Athletics

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown." 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NIV)

At Logos Christian Academy (LCA), we believe that the athletics program plays an integral role in fulfilling our mission and purpose. Our athletics program transcends mere sports serving as a conduit to instill Biblical principles of living into the very fabric of our school community. One of our main objectives is to foster Christlikeness beyond the school walls by building Christian character in all participants, parents, and spectators. We strive to maintain and perpetuate a strong testimony to other schools, demonstrating the values of integrity, respect, and excellence on and off the field. The sports program also provides our students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, forge deep friendships, and cultivate lifelong relationships within the framework of teamwork.

We also emphasize the importance of playing to win. While winning according to the scoreboard is certainly a goal, we understand that it's not always possible and we understand the importance of learning from both victory and defeat. Winning and losing are valuable lessons that equip students to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace. In such moments, our players are encouraged to maintain a winning desire and exhibit godly behavior, reflecting the character of Christ in their actions and attitudes.

At Logos Christian Academy, we firmly believe that spiritual victory precedes all other achievements, affirming that Christians should triumph in matters of the spirit before excelling in any other facet of life. Through our athletic program, we aim to nurture the development of well-rounded individuals who strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.

It's essential to note that LCA does not recruit athletes for any sport. Teams are formed and coached based solely on the interest and participation of students. This ensures that our athletic program remains genuine and inclusive. Throughout our history, LCA has upheld the values of good sportsmanship and integrity in all competitive activities. Our students exemplify joy in the successes of others, gracefully accept defeat, and humbly acknowledge their own accomplishments, recognizing God's provision of talents. Sportsmanship and being a positive testimony are fundamental to every athlete at LCA. We are committed to instilling these values in our students, both on and off the field, as they represent our school and, most importantly, their faith.

At the helm of our athletic program stand our Athletic Coordinator and coaches, who are charged with the sacred duty of nurturing integrity, excellence, and Christlike conduct. Together they ensure that teams are properly equipped to represent our school with dignity and excellence. Their vigilance is unwavering, their commitment unyielding, safeguarding our legacy from any tarnish or reproach.

TEAMS Currently, we offer basketball and soccer for boys and volleyball for girls

ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITY Academic commitment should never be compromised for athletic endeavors. Our coaches diligently mentor our student-athletes, ensuring that they prioritize their academic responsibilities in a manner that reflects honorably upon God. Students who have an average grade of 2 D's or 1 F in any subject are ineligible to participate in the sports program.

"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…" (Ecclesiastes 9:10, NIV)

Athletic FEES

Participation in sports comes with associated costs. For student athletes involved in volleyball (grades 7-12) and basketball/soccer (grades 8-12), a $200 athletics fee per student is required to cover essential expenses.

WAIVERS

To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, we require that all students joining the Athletics program complete a waiver form.

  • For Athletes Under 18: This waiver must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian.

  • For Athletes 18 and Over: The athlete can complete, certify, and sign the waiver for themselves.
